The COVID-19 pandemic brought with it a number of rapid changes to the ways in which telehealth psychology consultations can be accessed and funded within Australia. The practical roll-out of these changes, plus their immediate and future implications for Australia’s registered psychologists has brought about a need for resources and further research.

This white paper outlines the experiences of registered psychologists who used telehealth technologies for client consultations during the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia. In particular, it addresses the successes and challenges they faced as they navigated the largely unfamilar waters of Medicare-funded telehealth sessions during Australia’s social distancing lockdown between April and June 2020.
