Patient Centred Communications | Breast Cancer Network Australia | Case Study

Communication has the power to improve more than understanding. It can support confidence, informed decisions and better patient care.

The client

Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA), is Australia’s leading breast cancer consumer organisation. They work tirelessly to ensure that all Australians who are affected by breast cancer receive the very best care, treatment and support.

The challenge:

Breast Cancer Network Australia required extensive copywriting support for a major national health communications project. Working alongside the organisation’s marketing lead, Affect Media was engaged to develop more than 160 pages of consumer-facing content, translating complex medical information into clear, accurate and accessible language.

The content needed to maintain clinical integrity while remaining engaging and easy to understand for people affected by breast cancer.

Our approach:

Maintaining consistency across more than 160 pages required careful content planning, rigorous editing and close collaboration with the client throughout the project. Working collaboratively with BCNA’s internal marketing team, we developed a consistent writing style across an extensive body of content, ensuring every page aligned with the organisation’s voice, editorial standards and health communication objectives.

The project involved interpreting complex medical information and translating it into plain English without compromising accuracy.

The outcome:

Affect Media delivered more than 160 pages of high-quality healthcare copy, supporting one of Australia’s leading breast cancer organisations to communicate complex medical information clearly, consistently and compassionately.

The project demonstrates our ability to deliver large-scale healthcare content projects while balancing clinical accuracy, readability and audience needs.

Why it mattered

Healthcare communication is about more than writing well. It requires the ability to understand technical information, work collaboratively with subject matter experts and create content that people can trust.

This project reflects Affect Media’s expertise in developing large-scale healthcare content that supports informed decision-making and strengthens communication between organisations and the communities they serve.
